Hugues Duffau, MD, PhD

Professor and Chair of Neurosurgery



On April 26th Prof. Duffau presented at the University of Texas Medical Branch Neuroscience Grand Rounds as visiting Professor.


On April 26th he presented at the Department of Neurosurgery at Texas Children's Hospital.

On April 28th he presented at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Department of Neurosurgery Grand Rounds.


Prof. Duffau is the personal mentor and fellowship director for Dr. Pablo Valdes, Team Leader of the LENS collaborative, who pursued a Fellowship in Montpellier, France in Neurosurgical Oncology and Brain Mapping, after completing his Neurosurgery Residency at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women's Hospital/Boston Children's Hospital and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 

Dr. Duffau is a Professor and Chairman of the Neurosurgery Department in the Montpellier University Medical Center and Head of the INSERM 1191 Team "Plasticity of the central nervous system, human stem cells and glial tumors" at the Institute of Functional Genomics of Montpellier (University of Montpellier, France). He has written five textbooks and over 500 publications in international journals ranging from neurosurgery and neuro-oncology to fundamental neurosciences, including cognitive sciences and brain plasticity, for a total of more than 45,000 citations and with an h-index of 113. He has given more than 690 invited lectures and has been invited as a visiting professor in more than 60 institutions.
